Central Coast Garden Products was founded in 2014, by a team of industry leaders. The team’s inspiration for their first product was Mark Carlon, a grower with decades of experience whose formula for pest control proved to kill mites and mildew, naturally.
Carlon forged relationships with the future team, while establishing himself in the Central California market place. It was in those early years of sales and research that Green Cleaner was developed.
Dedicated to his vision of a natural pesticide, Central Coast Garden Products was born. Situated in the heart of Central California, Central Coast Garden Products resides in 10,000 square feet of state of the art industrial space. Our crew of workers hand-mix in small batches to ensure consistent quality throughout.
Central Coast Garden Products is proud of its ability to bring nature and technology together. We strive for quality, innovation, and sustainability.
Green Cleaner itself is all natural and non toxic. We take a nature safe, but effective approach to pest control, one which does not require suiting up in protective gear and using a respirator to protect your lungs. Many chemical products on the market are meant for use strictly on ornamental and horticultural crops, not for consumption.
In the indoor garden marketplace, crops are produced for medicinal consumption – treatments safe enough for children, to suppress seizures, control cancer, PTSD, cerebral palsy, rheumatoid arthritis, offset the effects of radiation therapy, chron’s disease, cystic fibrosis, schizophrenia, and a vast array of medical conditions. Spraying plants with harmful chemicals, dangerous even to be exposed to while applying, can have long term detrimental effects to patients and cultivators. Many residuals of these chemicals remain in the plants far longer than the systemic “dates” provided by their manufacturers. In essence, why apply something not safe for consumption and expect a safe and chemical free end product after?
Green Cleaner combines all-natural pesticides in a concentrated form. We start with soybean oil and sodium lauryl sulfate. The soybean oil acts to quickly suffocate pests, such as spider, broad and russet mites, while the SLS coats bugs in slimy goodness to immobilize them. We then add specific proportions of citric acid and alcohol. The citric acid is able to infiltrate the bugs exterior to acidify and destroy. The alcohol is a key ingredient that both dehydrates bugs and evaporates any remaining residue of the oil and sulfate. The result is a concentrated combination of pest killing power.
Powdery mildew is a problem so prevalent, it effects growers from coast to coast, and is a constant source of irritation to gardeners in temperamental climates where humidity is daftly hard to control. PM is a disease caused by different species of fungi. Each species attacks specific or wide varieties of plants. The asexual production of spores, can reproduce in as little as 48 hours. The spores move from plant to plant by wind, insect contact, and even gardeners. Many times outsourcing new plants and bringing them into your garden can bring with them unwarranted spores of PM. Infection is favored in high humidity (50-90%), especially during nighttime or “lights off” hours, when temperatures can fluctuate between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The symptoms of PM, well known to growers, appear in the form of white, circular spots and grow as the threadlike mycelium—fungal filaments, grow over plant and leaf surfaces. This gives the fungi a “powdery” appearance, making the name “powdery mildew” well suited.
Green Cleaner hits powdery mildew with a one-two punch. It coats the PM with active oil, which suppresses and limits spore reproduction. The combination of alcohol and citric acid provides the second “hit” to the PM. The alcohol dehydrates the mildew, which favors humidity and moisture, necessary to its survival and prevalence, while the citric acid acidifies, altering surface pH, while also killing with its natural anti fungal properties. The result: a natural and environmentally friendly “kill agent” for PM.
One important factor to consider when choosing a pesticide product that is right for you, is whether your pest or PM can become immune or resilient to repeat applications. Many conventional, chemical based pesticides can do a great job killing mature pests, but what about their eggs? When only mature pests are eliminated and their eggs remain, so-called “super bugs” are born. Super bugs are the result of repeat applications of the same chemical agents that kill mature pests, but rather than destroying their eggs, only coat them. Case studies have shown that these coated eggs can result in pests born with a resilience or tolerance to the chemicals that coated their eggs. This has resulted in pests, such as spider mites, that require multiple products and numerous applications to kill. The term “super mites” was coined, believing these mites to be stronger than those of the past. In essence, they are the same bug with a resilience to common chemicals of which they have been environmentally born into it.
Natural, oil based pesticides do not rely on chemical inputs to destroy pests. They utilize suffocants for efficacy, inputs that restrict oxygen and coat bugs making them unable to survive. With suffocant-based effectiveness, no bug can become immune. The ability to live without “breathing” is impossible to overcome. It allows the same product to be just as effective the first time it is used, as the 75th time.
The decision is yours and the research is at your fingertips, only a mouse-click or a few key strokes away. We recommend doing your own research at finding a pesticide product that is right for you.
Information on Green Cleaner and other natural pesticides is available both online and at your local indoor garden store. Always ask your local store owner for recommendations on what is right for you. Asking questions and seeking answers is the most sure route to success.
